Summary of the hydrofoils R&D

Hydrofoils R&D 2015 update
after successful TFW and some good sessions on the lake, plus a lot of time
on the comp and in workshop, here the summary of the work!

Y foil
As already posted the Y Moth sail ruder hydrofoil!
Status, vertical mold ALU done, foil on testing!

AHfoils

The Classic kite hydrofoil done for the AHcustoms.ch
The hydrofoil with great potential for super low take of and great gliding suport
true the jibes and free riding. The set up and construction allow the modifications to
the race setup too!

"O"wing

And not the last one, as was predicted here the "O"wing concept kite hydrofoil.
Out there in the aeronautic circles they are different names of this kind of wing set up!
From the box wing, circle wing, elliptical wing, closed wing, joined wing all of them are use the same
idea to drop down as much as possible wingtip vortex!
The working name Owing was chosen as the shape run continues all around!

With three new hydrofoils in this period I am happy to complete the work.
T "Y" and the Owing are booth into the testing period, more of the conclusions later on!

The foiling week Garda 2015

As the last year TFW is the best meet of the foiling boats from all around the world.
Good organization from Domenico, Luka and the rest of TFW team. For any R&D,
design or manufacturing people, it is priceless to be there. All the right power people are
coming together, have discussions, the forum run and it is much more to see on the water!
So do not miss this event in the future!

Amac was presented the new Waszp, the people foiler, so this is now official ;-)

The ahcustoms.ch kite hydrofoil was there, well accepted from foil community!

Well for this year we have with us the Old-timer as well. 10years of foiling or living museum
as we have jokes in foil community! The axeman7 moth sill on foils, well we broke the push road
on the main foil, so we was on the water only for two days. Oldy survive and crew also and
this is important!

White bear cat, Luc is assisting and help to crew!

Three type of today foiling boats,
Moth, Laser and FF, the kite foil is missing!

The SLO 4201 Luka Tomori doing well for the firt time on the event!

 Next year generation of foilers ;-)

In all, Garda lake, TFW we are coming back for next year,
not for holidays, with new stuff, new ideas, new products!

Christmas nativity set 2014

Dear all,
for this year, early enaught, for coming hollidays I give
to all readers of the blog the Christmas nativity set!

The set is laser cute from 3mm plywood and was made for special order. the basic template
is 800x300mm in flat! The set include the box for store the set when not in use!
Lets make celabrations for ourself and for kids!

Here are the templates in Ai and Pdf format. Please take note to use laser cut and 3mm plywood!
In case you use the CNC router, make re sample of the pieces to avoid coalitions and milling path!

14 Years

What a coincidence,

when I agreed to test the new Hydrofoil board, I did not even have the idea that I will meet a 14 years old kite surf  board, which was produces by me in 2000, completely up to date for that time.
There is 14 years of development in the area of ​​kite products.

Newbie meets the oldie, nice feel and they looks great together ;-)

  

 

Some successful board test was made ​​later and here it is the photo documentation. Looks well an it is good to see the Hydrofoil driven by the young power! Yari do his job well and we are all waiting for the next stage of R & D! Test was made in cooperation with http://www.kitelife.si and http://keka.si/ driven by mr. Boris Stepanov! Thanks guys!

Wait and see this place for additional info on the new foils, the development is going to Switzerland

Iinfinity adjustment of the main foil

Axeman Moth modification!

In 2014, I can say the Axeman7 is old school moth in the past low-rider,
then adapted for foiling, get modification nov on the main foil vertical.
As we all know the angles are one of the most important construction
points on sailboat foiling. Once I make the decision to adapt the attachment
of the main foil with infinity adjustment of the angle.
So here is my solution with slide upper fix point for vertical, where I can now free
adjust the angle as I wish!

 

Well the moth insiders will say OK but you loose the wand control vire distance! Well done,
it is correct until I get the spare parts and modify the steering mechanisms too ;-)
For now this is for me great improvement to play, adjust and study the angels!

I thing one day moth class will get the same system as is in use at Don's K2 foiler

without flap system on foils, but with whole foil moving front and back.
The foils will be designed more into direction of today kite foils.
Yes this is the closer vision, not so far away and not to be surprised if
some design propositions appear from Good mix of creativity up!

Hydrofoil 2014 part I

slowly I am back with the blog, here it was some quiet situation, but not in life & work & design.

regarding bionics design in correlation to hydrofoils, the 2014 is time to present new
one based on experiences from the past.

Yes the new kite hydrofoil was in last days for the first time on the water and above!
The shape and H-dynamics is based on my Moth hydrofoil and it works well in this
configuration too!

In close future this space will be updated with more info!

Aug update nr.1 The recorder stand

Mahalo,
Walking around the word with open eyes, we have as product designers, this opurtunity to
see the "problems" on products. Exactly this happened with Mateja Bajt and her recorder stand!

Mateja Bajt studied the recorder at the Music School in Radovljica (Slovenia), and continued her studies with Prof. H. M. Kneihs at the Hochschule für Music in Vienna (Austria) In 1994 she finished her studies of methodology and in 1997 her concert studies with distinction. She received a special award from the Austrian Ministry of Science for her outstanding achievements. In 1998 she specialized in chamber and contemporary music. She teaches recorder on University and Conservatory of Music in Ljubljana.

Mateja have from her professionalism, huge selection of recorders, some of them are top range of 
instruments themselves. So nice instruments need special care to be handling! The idea was born
after some discussion with her! Seeing the, close to 30 recorders stored, for my eyes
on inappropriate, recorder stand, the brain tornado with the help of volcano of ideas from her side,
give us the clean idea what the new stand will be! It take almost a year to finish the product!
It was worth for it!

From some early computer renderings, to clean the idea and set up the geometry, technology,
materials the R&D go step by step forward! 

The M_Pyramid was finalizing in workshop as the art design prototype!
The product is tribute and gift to Mateja and her recorders!

M-pyramid pictures with original recorders will follow as soon we find timing with Mateja,
on her busy scheduling!



The whole geometry follow well proved old Egyptian pyramids geometry, the recorders need
right energy for liveliness & love too!  Wood block on the bottom is done from American walnut,
the top transparent holders from acrylic glass! The recorders are rested on carbon fiber polls,
different lengths! The wood block get drawer for small parts which are in use to clean the recorders
and take care! Under acrylic Pyramid with two floors, on the wood layer the Celtic V-cut find the place! 
In all the special product was created and future ideas of 1/3 and 2/3 size recorder holder
are on the way! Lets see what the future show!

The new hydrofoil set up was finished and ready to test.
First assembly and angels of hydrofoils check.

One good day on local lake Bled with pure enjoy, flying over the water surface.

Conclusion, the main foil works well enaught to bring the ower weight Axeman again to foiling.
One month before the Worlds on Garda Lake the new set up was presented.
The new foil based on HQ2012 profile, it is weary thin, so I have much more work to do, as I respect, specialy on the flap system and mechanism! In all everything works well and Axeman set up the new speed on lake with 17knot max!
I will upload here later the 3D files of the foil, to share the idea with Moth world!
